So you are planning you wedding. You know you need to lock in your vendors but the question is just how far back should you plan to hire?
There is a lot of advice that can be found on the internet. But like any advice, some of this is based off sound judgement and others are seriously misleading. There are some blogs I’ve run into that says a little as 3-6 months, while others say 6-9 months. There are some with even longer dates.
Now there is no question you can find a quality DJ with just weeks or a couple months to spare, if you are lucky. Not every great DJ books every day, and with the roll of the dice you might just find one. However that is the exception to the norm. Looking at my own personal booking data, the average couple inquires about 13 months out. However many of my booked dates are booked 18+ months out, and some even more.
So my best advice is that once you are engaged, start to lock in your DJ (and other vendors) as quickly as possible. It’s better to have a piece of mind to know you have locked in the DJ that you want. So if you have not secured your wedding DJ now, don’t delay.
