Closing out a wedding on a memorable song is really important. Sometimes it can summarize a perfect moment, capture the essence of the night. And given the fast pace of music coming and going, some of those great songs may have slipped from your mind. In this first video of the series, I take a look at five weddings songs I personally love to close out the night on that you may have forgotten about. And yes, these songs are all “older songs” because honestly closing on a highly recognized song ensure that the crowd knows the lyrics from 8 to 80.
Michael Jackson f- Siedah Garret – I Just Can’t Stop Loving You
An absolute classic off of of the Bad album. This duet sees Micheal at his peak
The Honeydrippers – Sea Of Love
An odd existence of a supergroup with Robert Plant at the helm diving into the R&B cuts.
Will To Power – Baby I Love Your Way / Freebird
Who would have thought combining a southern rock song with brit-rock, all wrapped up in a 80s R&B groove would work. But it certainly does.
Stevie Wonder – Overjoyed
There are so many classic Stevie songs it’s hard to have a favorite. But Overjoyed really belongs in the top echelon of wedding songs.
Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now
Not every closer should be a slow song. Don’t Stop Me Now, off of their Jazz project, really just an awesome mixed tempo song that for me, is a staple.
There are of course so many other songs that really work to close out the night. These just happen to be my personal favorites.
